Adoption and Promotion of Esperanto as a World Auxiliary Language
As, in the words of Onisaburo Deguchi, “to bring about everlasting world peace, first tangible and intangible barriers between nations and peoples must be removed”;
As these barriers must be removed while respecting inherent cultures and linguistic diversity;
As it is indispensable for human beings to speak an international and neutral supplemental language, to maintain and develop the diverse cultures along with deepening mutual relationship among different cultures and races;
As Esperanto has been designed by Dr. Ludoviko Zamenhof, and further developed by linguistic scholars and enthusiasts, so that ordinary people can speak, study and understand, as well as have excellent expression and abundant vocabulary of special terminology in a fully regular language;
As the World Parliament intends to encourage an extremely high degree of linguistic competence within its own ranks, as well as within the personnel of the Earth Federation and among the general public;
As the World Parliament intends to promote full linguistic equity among human beings everywhere;
This eighth session of the provisional World Parliament hereby adopts Esperanto as a working and official language of the Earth Federation. The Parliament resolves to facilitate and promote the learning of Esperanto and communication in Esperanto to delegates from a wide variety of linguistic backgrounds.
Furthermore, the World Parliament pledges to do its best to encourage the use of whatever other auxiliary means as may be necessary to make the work of the World Parliament available to persons of every linguistic background, and to facilitate communication among all delegate Members of the World Parliament, among all officials and all employees of the Earth Federation. These means may include instantaneous interpreters, translators, accessibility options, other auxiliary languages and computer translation programs.
